During the next UCLG retreat, UCLG learning will organize its presential UCLG Learning Forum, to discuss and define the 2020 learning strategy, articulating diffferent learning strategies of the network.
UCLG Learning and CIDEU launch their second online course, that has the proposal of developing complementary and specific materials on the localization of the SDGs, discussing tools of strategic territorial planning in Iberoamerica, from the examples of administrations as Malaga, La Paz and Buenos Aires.
The eight-week course will discuss the 2030 Agenda, the importance of awareness raising, the creation of indicators and continuing follow-up, the strategies for action plans, and will propose as a final product the design of an SDGs practical local case.

As a part of the process of the UCLG new Learning Module on Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), UCLG Learning, together with Un-Habitat, UNDR, UNGL-Costa Rica, CAMCayca and Flacma, is organizing this peer learning event with representatives of local governments, that will discuss the local initiatives for the resilience and DRR.

UCLG Learning closed the year 2019 with a ToT session, from 11-14 December in Kathmandu, Nepal, targeting LGAs with focus on proper engagement in the Voluntary National Review (VNR) process.
Called by its regional section UCLG ASPAC, local government associations from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines and Indonesia gathered during 3 days of interactive learning to improve their knowledge and policy strategies around the localization of the SDGs. The meeting closed with a one-day retreat session that allowed for input to the UCLG ASPAC strategy for 2020-2025. The 44 participants engaged in the learning process, bringing their own experiences of challenges and achievements in localizing the SDGs.

From 26 to 28 of November, participants discussed the importance of strengthening urban resilience in the face of extreme climate events, and how to better manage the risks (and opportunities) that a changing climate can bring. The event was organized by Connective Cities, with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Engagement-Global, the German Association of Cities, the Brazilian Front of Mayors (FNP), and UCLG Learning. Representatives from 17 cities and regions of Latin America and Germany were gathered in the city of Niteroi, Brazil, to exchange experiences and knowledge on the topic of climate resilience and urban development. The lessons learned by cities through their efforts to respond to and prevent emergencies, and mitigate and manage risk, is similar in many cities, and together make up a great source of learning and good practices.
The National Association of Municipalities of Mozambique (ANAMM) has promoted, with the support of the UCLG Learning, UCLG-GOLD, the UNDP-Art and GIZ, their first national training of trainers for the localization of the SDG, based on the Modules 1 (awareness raising about the SDG), 2 (local planning of the SDG) and 3 (reporting the SDG), produced with the UN-Habitat, UNDP-Art, the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments and the Provincial Government of Barcelona.
The training had the presence of 53 mayors and representatives of Mozambiquean local governments, and also counted with the experiences of Angola, Brazil and the National Association of Municipalities of Cabo Verde.
This has closed a series of this year's Training of Trainers (ToTs) in Africa, supported by the UCLG-Africa, that has begun in Accra (for the English speaking african local governments), passed through Ouagadougou (French speaking local governments) and has ended the year with the Portuguese speaking african local governments ToT.
During the UCLG Congress next November, in Durban, there will be realized the Learning Forum, defining the Learning Agenda of 2019-2022.

The UCLG Retreat Outputs, the Localizing SDGs modules and the experiences of other UCLG regional sections will be presented during the event. On the last day, there will be a training of trainers on Localizing SDGs within the UCLG-MEWA staff.
UCLG Learning will discuss its strategy on HOW to improve the action learning and the localizing of SDGs with Commissions, Regional Sections and other stakeholders, in a “World Café-alike exercise”, also defining the next steps towards the UCLG Learning Forum, during the UCLG Congress in Durban.

The event in Santiago (Chile) had the objective to generate capacities at the local level to foster the localization of the Agenda 2030, during the Summer School of the Chilean Association of Municipalities, together with UNDP, Un-Habitat, CEPAL, FCM and Cordial. An especial focus was laid on the awareness raising exercises about the SDGs, and strategic planning aligned to the SDGs.

The event in Belém (Brazil) had the objective to generate capacities at the local level to foster the localization of the Agenda 2030. An especial focus was laid on planning and management mechanism that can enhance sustainable development.

Forty participants from the metropolitan government and district and regional authorities in Ecuador were trained to be trainers for the localisation of the SDGs. The workshop that was based on the Modules 1 and 2 had the objective of widening access to the community and strengthening the skills and knowledge of the municipal authorities. The eThewikini Municipality hosted a Training the Trainers event which was organized by ALGA and UCLG Learning. 25 participants from African countries such as South-Africa, Namibia, Tansania or Mozambique but also one participant from Argentina and from Indonesia were received a 3 day training on the Module 1 and the Module 2! Therefore the alignment of plans with the SDGs was the central topic of the event but also other important issues such as monitoring and report were discussed. The Chilean Association of Municipalities, in cooperation with FLACMA, UNDP and UCLG has hosted a first Localizing the SGDs workshop in Viña del Mar. The two day event was an important step in the localization process in Chile and the whole South- American Region. The event provided furthermore the opportunity to define next steps within the network to enforce the efforts for sustainable development.

The aim of the working session on Localizing SDGs for the ASPAC-Staff was to present tools and methods for future ASPAC events related to the localization of SDGs.

The main objective of the workshop was to provide an introductory training on localizing SDGs directed to all the participants in the one-day session on “UN Global Goals, triggering a wave of local actions in Europe and beyond” that were new in this subject.
To interchange about experience on localizing SDGs and to introduce the newly developed SDG toolkit.
Dynamic methods, especially moderation and facilitation skills were practiced and fostered by all 20 participants from Africa, Asia, Middle East and Europe.
